SAFELY HOME
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting life.
All the pain is gone.
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home
In Heaven at last.
Jesus himself came to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus’ arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,
Pray to trust our Father’s will.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth –
You shall rest in Jesus’ land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!
OBITUARY
Tommie Jeannine Beatty, age 81, of Fresno, California, passed peacefully on April 14th, 2019 having spent her last days with family by her side. Tommie was born to Thomas and Lahoma Bradshaw on April 16th, 1937 in Phoenix, Arizona where she was raised for a time by her mother. The remainder of her young life, she was brought up by her maternal grandparents. She was named after her father who passed tragically just before her birth. Tommie always expressed her deep desire to meet her father. We take comfort in knowing that this long-anticipated embrace awaited her on the other side. While in high school in Turlock, California Tommie fell in love with her best friend’s older brother, Frederick G. Beatty. They were soon engaged and wrote to each other often as Fred served in the United States Coast Guard in Seattle, Washington. While on leave, Tommie and Fred were married in 1953 in Denair, California. They returned to Seattle, Washington where Fred was stationed, and the first of their five children was born. After honorably serving in the United States Coast guard, they moved to Fresno, California where Fred attended and graduated from Fresno State University with a degree in accounting. Here they purchased their first home and added four more children to complete their family of seven. In time, they moved to Concord, California for Fred’s new job with American Forest Products in San Francisco. After nearly a decade in Concord, Fred and Tommie decided to move their family back to Fresno where they would reside for the remainder of their lives. In 1975, the family was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Fred, Tommie, and four of their children were baptized in 1976. In 1977 they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Oakland, California temple. Fred and Tommie’s many years of service in the church brought them great joy and many dear friendships they will cherish forever. Throughout her life, Tommie overcame numerous health issues—polio, hepatitis C, and recurring heart issues to name a few. She was a great example to her family of facing challenges with courage and conquering them with a smile, constantly reminding us of the wise words of Joseph B. Worthlin, “Come what may and love it.” Tommie was very much a patriot and she enjoyed all things in American history. She had a love for genealogy, animals, gardening, Taco Bell, and Coca-Cola! The last few years of her life were spent checking off some of her “bucket-list” items. She had the opportunity to visit the gravesites of her father, Thomas Bradshaw, and the maternal grandparents, George and Della Moore, who loved and raised her. With many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren in attendance, Tommie took a trip to Hawaii and later went on a swamp tour in the Louisiana bayou. Tommie had a strong testimony and abiding faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served happily in many capacities. Her family was everything to her, and she especially enjoyed supporting her family at special occasions and watching them succeed. She dearly treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Thank you, mom, for your endless love and kindness. We will miss you every day until we meet again! She is survived by her 5 children: Karen Wagnor, Kevin Beatty (Caleen), Ken Beatty, Laurie Tucker (Jerrel), and James Beatty (Elizabeth), her grandchildren: Rachel Jaime, Katherine Wagnor, Tommy Wagnor, Brooke Babcock, Lauren Beatty, Stacey Beatty, Jennifer Beatty, Ryan Beatty, Kenneth Beatty, Mindy Beatty, Matthew Beatty, Stephanie Beatty, Steven Beatty, Lindsey Wright, Shaun Tucker, Aaron Tucker, Boris Beta, McKay Tucker, Patrick Beta, Jordan Davis, Cassidy Sharples, Christian Tucker, David Beatty, Scott Beatty, Michael Beatty, Emily Beatty, Hannah Beatty, and Mary Grace Beatty and 45 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way. She was welcomed back to her heavenly home by her husband of 47 years, Frederick, and two great granddaughters, Kennedy and Holland Babcock. A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, April 26th, at 1:30 p.m. at Clovis Cemetery where all are welcome to come and celebrate her life.
“May God touch you
with His healing hand
and give you the peace and comfort
you need to get through.”
