OBITUARY
Sarkis Blueian passed away on October 23, 2021, at his home in Fresno, California surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 100. He was born on July 5, 1921, to Mike and Violet Blueian in Fresno, California. He spent his life in the Fresno area, having graduated from Sanger High School in June 1939, where he engaged in his love of sports playing football and basketball. Sark grew up helping his parents in the family business, farming grapes and working in their general store and gas station. In October 1941, he earned his Master Aviation Mechanic Certificate and was employed by the Polaris Flight Academy at Eagle Field in Lancaster, California as an Airplane Mechanic before being interrupted to join the war efforts. Sark proudly served in WWII from August 1944 to June 1946 in the 47th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, spending much of his time in Germany. At the time of his discharge in 1946, he was serving as a Technician Fifth Grade. Upon his return to Fresno, he helped run his family store, the Blueian De Wolf Store. In the 60’s he owned and operated the meat concession at Food Town Market in Fresno. Sark finished his career working as a butcher at State Center Meat Company and later The Meat Market, where he made lifelong friendships.
Through family friends, Sark met the one and only love of his life, Beatrice (Bea) Karabedian, whom he married in Las Vegas, Nevada, on March 4, 1956. As lovers of celebrations, they commemorated their union with two receptions, one in Los Angeles in March and again in Fresno in April that same year. Though Bea passed away in 1970, Sark never remarried and always held her dear to his heart. They had two children, Mark and Barry, whom Sark treasured. Sark was devoted to his family and friends. He spent every Sunday visiting his cousin Jake, sharing stories and beers until Jake's passing. Even after his retirement, Sark would visit The Meat Market every Saturday to buy meat, visit his friends, and offer help and advice in butchering techniques and seasoning shish-kabobs. Sark was an avid gardener and spent his days working in his yard, watching sports, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren. Sark is survived by his sister, Alice Kezerian; sons, Mark (Rhonda) and Barry (Brenda); grandchildren, Sarah (Brian), Barry Jr., Bianca, and Mark Jr, and many nieces and nephews. Sark was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Violet; his beloved wife Beatrice; his sister, Sarah Hagopian; and his brother Sam. Sark has touched many lives over his life and was known to most as Grandpa. He dedicated his life to taking care of his family and always bringing a smile to everyone he was around. His smile and positive attitude will be deeply missed.
WHEN I MUST LEAVE YOU
When I must leave you
For a little while,
Please do not grieve
And shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you
Through the years,
But start out bravely
With a gallant smile;
And for my sake
And in my name
Live on
And do all things the same.
Feed not your loneliness
On empty days,
But fill each waking hour
In useful ways.
Reach out your hand
In comfort and in cheer
And I in turn
Will comfort you
And hold you near.
And never,
Never be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you
In the sky!
“May God touch you
with His healing hand
and give you the peace and comfort
you need to get through.”
Anon.
