OBITUARY
Bob Belmonte was larger than life. Never shy, there was no one he could not regale with his hilarious anecdotes. He made friends with ease and truly cared about those around him, always lending a helping hand to family, friends, and strangers alike.
An avid outdoorsman, Bob thrived in the mountains and loved to spend time hunting and fishing. He shared his passion for fishing with his daughter Jenna, and the pair spent many a summer day sitting lakeside talking and laughing as the sunlight danced across the serene water.
Bob also loved to travel with Julie and Jenna. The trio especially enjoyed their visits to the vineyards and pumpkin patches of Upstate New York, the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, Santa Barbara, and Seattle. Bob also looked forward to the family’s annual Fourth of July trip to Moonstone Beach in Cambria.
He loved fiercely and laughed easily. His mischievous grin was always a delight to behold and his green eyes dazzled with intelligence and warmth. He was a wonderful, kind, and loving husband to Julie for 30 years, who, in turn, adored him. Bob and Julie loved working on home and gardening projects together and looked forward to their Friday night date of ordering takeout and watching a movie. He was truly a magnificent father to Jenna, always guiding her with his faith and wisdom, nurturing her academic pursuits, and encouraging her to always be brave and simply do her best.
Bob did his very best everyday for the last three years during his arduous battle with cancer. He was fearless. He never gave up hope. He kept fighting. Cancer robbed the world of a wonderful man far too soon, but it was time for God to call him home. His “girls,” as he often referred to Julie and Jenna, know they will miss him forever, but promised him they will do their best to live without him and make him proud, all the while honoring his memory and adding to his legacy of compassion, love, and selflessness.
WHEN I MUST LEAVE YOU
When I must leave you
For a little while,
Please do not grieve
And shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you
Through the years,
But start out bravely
With a gallant smile;
And for my sake
And in my name
Live on
And do all things the same.
Feed not your loneliness
On empty days,
But fill each waking hour
In useful ways.
Reach out your hand
In comfort and in cheer
And I in turn
Will comfort you
And hold you near.
And never,
Never be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you
In the sky!
“May God touch you
with His healing hand
and give you the peace and comfort
you need to get through.”
Anon.
