We became adolescent friends as boys who both had Fresno Bee paper routes together for a couple of years in what was then called Fresno Bee district 3. Following those brief years as paperboys we lost touch. I will always remember him as a good friend in my early teens and I have fond memories of our shared youth experience. I am so sorry to learn of his early passing.

I remember Jan from another almost life fifty years ago. l first saw him the middle of the night in the middle of the winter in a light rain standing on the seat of a Triumph going south on Blackstone yelling something I forget what. Jimmy Williams and Keith Chambers and Rod Bobo and Charlie Da Barbarian and Chuck Moulton and Bob Gott and My God what a gang of fools we all were, young and stupid and full of ourselves and full of life and wonder. God is still good even if I do not understand his will.
