A SIGNIFICANT UNDERTAKING
by Joseph Thomas Johnson

“The death of a loved one is the most severe test that you will ever face, and if you can rise above your grief and if you will trust in God, then you will be able to surmount any other difficulty with which you may be faced.” – Harold B. Lee

Ceremonies are stepping stones to acceptance of new responsibilities in life, such as graduation, marriage, death, etc.  After the death of a friend or loved one, our life’s are permanently changed and the stepping stone to emotional acceptance of that change is the funeral.  It is important to remember that a funeral need not be costly to be psychologically or emotionally beneficial.

In the French film “Forbidden Games” we see the roll and value of ceremony in helping reconstruct a young girls life after the tragic death of her parents in an air raid.  Her method of coming to grips with her situation involved ceremoniously arranging a funeral for every small creature that died, until she could eventually master the shock of her loss.

Many families today opt to have a direct cremation and have no means of closure.

Even when a family chooses to have a visitation / funeral service, they normally will leave feeling empty and alone because the healing process has just begun.

It is our hope that we can provide a means of closure for everyone that we serve in “The Celebration of Life”, and that it will provide the much needed healing process.

On our website, we create a video of your loved one to celebrate their life – this is a gift.  When this one minister saw his friend’s obituary, he asked me what we charged for the video, to which I told him that it was a gift and that there was no charge for the video.  He then stated, “You know, this is so much better than any visitation or any funeral service.”  I agreed with him and explained that the video (obituary) would remain on our website forever.  In addition to the video, I explained that on our website the family and friends could write a letter, leave a condolence, add pictures to the photo album, or light a candle for them.

If this provides you, your family, and friends with that much needed healing process, then will I consider this A Significant Undertaking.
