There are some
who bring
a light so great
to the world
that even after
they have gone,
the light remains.
Susan Joy Alsup (Susie), 55 went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 25, 2016. She passed away at home in North Fork, California surrounded in love by friends and family members after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Susie was born and grew up in Ventura, California, the daughter of John and Fern Pinkerton. She loved the beach and was an avid swimmer. She joined the Ventura High Swim Team and Junior Life Guards Program, ultimately becoming a lifeguard.
From a young age Susie loved the outdoors. She enjoyed spending time in the mountains hiking, on the water boating and exploring mother nature. This love of nature was a natural influence into the decision to settle in North Fork, near Bass Lake, a favorite family vacation spot in her childhood years.
Susie’s giving personality in helping others led her to a career in audiology. Early in her career she was a driven businesswoman, acquiring a partnership in a thriving speech and hearing clinic. Throughout the Central Valley she was known as “The Hearing Aid Queen of the San Joaquin.” Additionally, she traveled to Mexico with a group of medical professionals giving freely of her time meeting the hearing needs of the less fortunate. As her family grew she directed her energies toward volunteering in school, civic, and church activities.
She took great joy in church fellowship, becoming a born-again Christian as a young adult. This long-term relationship with God helped guide her to become a dedicated wife, loving mother of three, and friend to all that met her.
Susie is survived by her husband of 18 years Don Alsup, three children: Johnny, Lilly and Molly, by her mother Fern Pinkerton, and four siblings, Holly Hirneise, Beth McKenzie, Karen Yoshida, and John Pinkerton.
Susie’s beautiful smile, warm personality and endearing sense of humor will be etched in our hearts forever. Until we meet again, rest in peace dear Susie, we love and miss you.
