Those we hold
most dear
never truly leave us;
they live on
in the kindnesses
they showed
and the love
they brought into our lives.

OBITUARY
Gerald M. Schulz passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ at Community Hospital on February 16, 2018 at age 86.
Born the fourth of five children in Fresno, California in October of 1931. After attending Fresno High School, Gerald went to work for the US Postal Service where he worked for 45 years. In addition he was a truck driver for Ritchie Trucking. Although he held down two jobs, his greatest joy was playing Board Games and cards and sports every day with his children being there for all their birthdays, holidays, and graduations and that continued on for his grandchildren and great grand children.
Gerald married Lorene Schulz in 1957 and they raised her two children as his own and their daughter together. Our mailman became our beloved Dad.
Gerald was very friendly and caring and loving and had a way with words. He liked to say his "One Liners" to keep us laughing and keep us all on our toes ... they are too many to mention, except, "Don't WOORYEEE about it … that is the MAIN thing." He loved gardening and keeping a manicured yard. He loved to read about Fresno's history and going to car shows and playing golf with his son and family. He loved the Dodgers and was known as "Mickey Mantle" at the family Father's Day picnic baseball games. He was a very avid sports fan but not for Basketball or Hockey !!!! He so enjoyed being on his Postal Bowling League, where weekly we were his cheering section at Cedar Lanes.
He loved to start his retirement years with his cup of instant black coffee and read THE FRESNO BEE from cover to cover … even the obituaries and comment, "Well I'm not in there today." He loved his jigsaw puzzles and many are framed for his family to enjoy. His favorite T.V. shows that he faithfully watched daily were ... The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune ... we knew not to call him then !!!!!
He was always ready to help his family in our times of need ... nothing too small or too big for him to come running to our aide. He will surely be missed BUT always very close to our hearts. His greatest joy was his dog Brandy, who he rescued after his wife's passing of 51 years of marriage.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lorene Schulz and three sisters. He is survived by his one surviving sister Betty Remus, his three children: Kathlynne Anderson, Scott McClintock, Susan Schulz James as well as his 8 Grandchildren: Darren Mills, Jay Dilley, Stuart Dilley, Scotty McClintock, Nicholas McClintock, Janelle Russell, Julie Porter, Ashley Kleam and 10 Great Grandchildren: Lorene Mills, Darren Carlos Mills, Luna Ordonez, Tommy Dilley, Taylor Dilley, Mia Dilley, Trystan Porter, Reagan Porter, Chloe McClintock, Vera Kleam.
He will be buried by his wife at Belmont Memorial Park Cemetery. Graveside services will be at 11:00 am on Friday the 23rd of February 2018, with reception following at Golden Chinese Restaurant in the Tower District at 1:00 pm on 1135 N. Fulton. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed by many.
