Where to begin. I am heart sick to hear of both Bob and Delores' passing. I had checked online in 2014, knowing that Bob was not doing well, but only again now, with Covid going on. It helps me only to know that such wonderful souls did not have to experience this mess.
I was neighbors with the Clays in Fresno for too short a time. But in that time they made such a vital impact on my life. I thought of them often since moving away and missed them horribly.
Delores was such a wonderful woman. She used to come over and watch tv with me and bring me the lettuce they grew in their garden. We played interactive bingo and I brought her the fresh cut roses from my yard.
Bob was a protector, and though he could pretend to be rough, he was a softy.
One night, a crazy stranger was banging on my door in the middle of the day and when I peaked out of the window and saw he was talking to himself, I immediately rang up Bob and Delores. Bob went out there, like a freight train, and grabbed that guy by the collar and told him to get the heck out of there ...and oh boy did he.
I was half their age but they respected me and treated me as if I was as wise as them. They told me all about their place in Yosemite and their love for their children.
It has been AMAZING to see these pictures of them when they were young, so so amazing. What a stunning memorial from their most beloved children.
