OBITUARY
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother Bryce Burton Stewart passed away at his home on January 19, 2017. His legacy of perseverance, service, diligence, hard work, honor and faithfulness is cherished by those that knew him. He had a Christ-like love for everyone.
Bryce was born on October 26, 1942, to Reed Wayment and Edna Helen Burton Stewart. Bryce was raised in Warren, Utah. He married his sweetheart Beverly Brown Stewart on September 9, 1965. They spent their lives together for 52 years. He served in the Army for eight years and graduated from Weber State College with a degree in Business Management. He moved to Fresno in 1971 with his family to help open up the Internal Revenue Service Center which he retired from in 2001 after 34 years of service. In addition, he worked for 3 years for Bedrosian, Tile and Marble.
Bryce loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and it was demonstrated by his many actions. During his life he was active in serving and holding many callings within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When he was 19 he served a LDS mission to the British Mission in England. At the end of his mission he was able to travel and study throughout Europe for a time.
Bryce was an avid supporter of the Boy Scouts, spending many hours with his own boys in addition to helping many others to obtain the Eagle Scout award. During his time in scouting he received numerous leadership awards for his service, which included the Mt. Whitney medal, On My Honor, Woodbadge, and the Sequoia Medal. Bryce was always willing to get his hands dirty and do things for himself. He never missed an opportunity to help and pass on what he learned in his life. He truly did teach us the value of work, leading by example, and that of having close family ties. His greatest joy was his family. Bryce was refined through his trials, but truly had a tender and loving heart. Never would he complain, even as he struggled with his illness at the end.
He is survived by his wife Beverly B Stewart; his sons Michael (wife Kimberley), Greg (wife Meghan), Rob, and Chris (wife Cherith); his 11 amazing grandchildren: Jessica, Timothy (wife Crystal), Daniel (wife Caitlin), Nicholas, Emily, Abby, Brianna, Jared, Claire, Dallin, and Jordan; his 4 beautiful great-grandchildren: Hunter, Beckett, Eliza, and Emersyn; his brother Kent B Stewart.
